St.
Dorothy School is
administered by a Principal. The principal and part-time principal
work with the pastor and school board in the general management and
policy making of the school.
Dear Parents/Guardians,
One of the five
characteristics of Catholic Education according to Father James Heft, a
catholic school educator, is the “centrality of the arts, ritual music and
drama.” Our Fine Arts Gala on Saturday, April 5, 2008 highlighted this
theme. Our drumming program, liturgical dancers, music and art programs
were all out front and center to a group of over 200 adults and children.
It was a fantastic evening of entertainment along with the wonderful Jazz
ensemble of Robin Watson and her accompanist. We raised over $5,000
between admissions, donations and the 42” HDTV raffle. We have already
scheduled the second Fine Arts Gala for Saturday, April 4, 2009!
You received the
tuition schedule for 2008-2009. Once again, we are trying to hold the
line realizing the economic climate. Next year we will continue to expand
our technology and fine arts program.
I sincerely hope
you are planning to return to St. Dorothy School next year and if this is
the case you need to register for next year ASAP, especially if you are in
early childhood or going into 6th, 7th or 8th grade. I am already getting
inquiries for these grades and want to be sure a spot is reserved for you
for next year so you will not be surprised in August if we are full.
Attached you will also find the school calendar for 2008-2009. While not
exhaustive it is fairly comprehensive.
We will have
summer school reading and math programs beginning June 18 - July 16 with
an extended program after that which will run until August 7, 2008. Look
for details in the next week or two.
Lastly, I share with you
a parent pledge I recently received in regards to your child’s education.
As I have emphasized your child’s education is a partnership between you,
St. Dorothy School and your child. All partners are equal!
Parent Pledge:
I will take a more active
role in my children’s education by reading with them and ensuring that
their homework is completed every night.
I will take my child to
libraries, museums and cultural events regularly.
I will work with teachers to
ensure my child’s success.
I will participate in school
activities.
Greater Parent Involvement =
Greater Student Achievement
Be Blest,
