St.
Dorothy School is
administered by a Principal. The principal and part-time principal
work with the pastor and school board in the general management and
policy making of the school.
Dear Parents/Guardians,
October
2nd is this Friday. On our Catholic calendar, it is the Feast
of the Guardian Angels. These messengers of God’s presence are always
watching over our children and us.
However, on our
Chicago calendar, October is the long-awaited date: the announcement of
the host city for the 2016 Summer Olympics. Will the committee decide upon
Chicago? Rio de Janeiro? Madrid? Tokyo?
The Olympics
are about setting a standard of excellence. The athletes for 2016 are in
training now in 2009. To qualify for the Olympics is a dream that takes
time, priority, and hard work.
A standard of
excellence is the academic and spiritual goal of St. Dorothy School. Our
first graders this year will be the class of 2017, the Olympics taking
place the summer between their 7th and 8th grades.
The basics of reading, math, technology, and spiritual values that are
formed and reinforced now in school and at home will determine their
readiness then as they anticipate high school. A standard of excellence is
not for the few who win those 3 medals; it is the standard for all to
reach beyond the minimum in life and embrace education opportunity and
life’s challenges.
Olympics in
Chicago or not, its dream is always an inspiration. As school and parish
and family, we work together not for a shining moment in the spotlight.
Our efforts are to use these years in our school for the gold standard of
each child’s future; to be what God intended when He made them in his own
image and likeness.
Be Blest,
Robert J. Zeegers
