In recent years, our School has become a model Catholic school
on the Southside. Academically, our excellent Terra Nova
test scores (standard in Archdiocesan elementary schools)
continue to reflect the tremendous teaching that occurs at St.
Dorothy’s. In the last five years, our student’s annual spring
test scores have consistently ranked from 3 - 15 points more
than their anticipated scores. Reading and Mathematics rank
among the higher end of these scores. Social Studies and Science
scores continue to improve yearly, with rises in the 3 - 5 point
range.
We has become well known lately for our Fine Arts focus –
including dancing, African drumming, a visual arts program that
includes painting, ceramics, paper art, pro-graphic
illustrations and others. We are attracting many new students
for this Fine Arts focus, which is totally unique in the
Catholic school system!
Finally, our graduates truly have a legacy of later life
success. They consistently attend the high schools of their
choice, matriculate into college at above normal rates, and have
shown remarkable success in careers and later life. Our
graduates include numerous doctors, lawyers, corporate
executives, bankers, teachers – and even one former Alderman!
